Kern

The in-house assistant: it answers about your projects and finances, summarises threads and drafts using your real data.

What you can do

Ask it about your data

To pull a figure or a status without walking through screens.

Confirm what Kern proposes

So the record is created by a press of yours and never behind your back.

Read the alerts Kern raises

To hear about what is falling due without going looking for it.

Return to a conversation

To recover a good answer from last week.

How it works

Ask it about your data, in three steps.

  1. 1

Open Kern and type the question with the project or client name in it.

  2. 2

It answers on projects, tasks, sprints, time, invoices, expenses, clients and the team.

  3. 3

It reads with your permissions: whatever your role cannot reach, it will not tell you either.

How to use it

The Kern steps, one by one, are in the manual.

What is included

  • The copilot, over the organization’s data
  • Summaries of threads, meetings and projects
  • Drafts written with your data

What it solves

Pulling a figure or a status out of a project usually means going through five screens. Kern is the organization’s assistant: you ask it in a sentence and it answers with your real data —projects, tasks, finance—, and when it proposes an action, the record is created with a button of yours and never behind your back.

Who it is for

For anyone who prefers asking to navigating: how much has been invoiced, what is due this week, what state a project is in. And for teams that want summaries of threads, meetings and projects and drafts written with their own data.

How you work with Kern

You type the question in the Kern chat and it answers about your organization’s data. If it proposes creating a record, you see the proposal and you confirm it. If you ask from a project or a client, the conversation starts out knowing what it is about; you can also link a conversation to a project or client to find it from their detail.

Conversations are saved, sorted into folders once there are more than twenty, and recovered to go back to a good answer from last week. You can show it an image to ask about something that is seen rather than explained.

Notices and usage

Kern lets you know what is coming due without you having to go looking, and a screen shows what you have used so you know how much allowance is left before you run out.

What to keep in mind

Kern does not act on its own: anything that creates or changes data goes through your confirmation. And when you ask about figures, always state the period, because without dates it answers with the whole history and not with the month.

Frequently asked questions

Can Kern change my data without asking?
No. When it proposes an action, such as creating a record, you see the proposal and a button of yours creates it. It never does it behind your back.
What data does it answer with?
Your organization’s: projects, tasks and finance. You can ask from a project or a client so the conversation starts out knowing what it is about.
Can I see how much I have used?
Yes, there is a screen with what you have used so you know how much allowance is left.
Does it understand images?
Yes, you can show it an image to ask about something that is seen rather than explained.
