API and MCP

Programmatic access: personal tokens, a full REST API and an MCP server so your agents and tools work on Projekt Republic.

What you can do

Create an API key

So something outside —a script, an integration, an agent— can come in under your name.

Narrow down how far a key reaches

So one project integration does not reach the whole organization.

How it works

Create an API key, in three steps.

  1. 1

Open the API keys and press “New key”.

  2. 2

Give it a name that says who will use it, and choose whether it expires in 30 days, 90, a year or never.

  3. 3

Copy it right then: it is shown once and after that it cannot be seen again.

How to use it

The API and MCP steps, one by one, are in the manual.

What is included

  • Personal access tokens
  • Full REST API
  • MCP server for agents

What it solves

A closed product forces you to do by hand what another tool could do on its own. The API and the MCP let scripts, integrations and AI agents work inside your organization: create tasks, read projects, log time, without anyone typing it.

Who it is for

For teams with someone who programs, who want to connect Projekt Republic with their tools, and for anyone who works with an AI assistant and prefers to ask it in writing for what they would do here by hand.

What is included

Personal access tokens so something outside can get in on your behalf, a complete REST API and an MCP server so your agents can work on Projekt Republic. Third-party applications get in through OAuth. Once the agent is connected, you can search for what it knows how to do and ask it with the sentence already written.

Scoped, controlled keys

A key can be scoped to a project so the integration does not reach the whole organization; without a project, it operates on the whole organization with the access of whoever creates it. You can check which account an agent came in with before trusting it, and review which keys are still alive so you do not leave open a door nobody uses anymore.

What to keep in mind

“Rotate” on a key cuts off the old one at once. If the service cannot stop, it is swapped in three steps: you create the new one and deploy it, watch the last-used column until the old one stops moving, and only then revoke the old one.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a REST API?
Yes, a complete REST API, with personal access tokens and third-party applications through OAuth.
Can I connect an AI agent?
Yes, with the MCP server. You connect the agent with a key and ask it in writing for what you would do by hand.
Can I limit what a key can reach?
Yes. A key can be scoped to a project so the integration does not reach the whole organization.
How do I change a key without cutting the service?
“Rotate” cuts the old key at once. If you cannot cut the service, you create the new one and deploy it, wait until the old one is no longer used and only then revoke it.
